I used to frequent this joint much more. (And by joint, i mean my tumblog.)
Fortunately, i have been too busy rcently to become sucked in to the never-ending dashboard ticker tapes. However, i won’t say i haven’t missed it.

MEntal Break
Last night i realizd that i have become so discconected from the world. (Mine & everyone elses.) Sad part is, since Sept, i have virtually done nothing except work on Zirrp. In fact, last night was the first time since the begining of 07-08 NHL season that i watched more than the highlights of a Capitals game.
So… that said, I think i am going to take a day or two and do some other...

Clarence: so you are looking for developers?
Alex: yeah i found a couple on Odesk.
and there is a company called Elctric Pulp.
Clarence: did you start with the design?
Alex: yeah. i have the GUI layed out.
Clarence: but make sure
you design your app before you program it.
Clarence: it will cause you to think through the user experience fully
Clarence: which is critical
Alex: yeah... no doubt... that's what i have been doing since Oct
Clarence: its difficult to be simple
Alex: and it has changed a lot
Clarence: great
Clarence: that was my last advice to you. im glad that you took it
Alex: yeah.... no doubt. It makes a lot of sense
Alex: i wrote a tumblog about it a few weeks ago
Alex: there are so many poorly designed sites
Clarence: tumblr is great.
Clarence: they know what the are doing

This Just In - It's amazing i am still alive
So i just received the results of my sleep study. And to put it mildly, it’s amazing i am still alive—much less functioning on a daily basis. To quote my Doctor, i have “severe sleep apnea”. To that i said, “hmmm… define severe?
Here are my results:

Avg event was 26 seconds, with the longest at 90 seconds...

i think it’s time Daddy stepped up to the tower of power. I love my macbook pro but, i am getting to the point where i need more visual space to work with. According to the specs of the new Mac Pro’s it can be upgraded to drive 8 (yeah that’s right, EIGHT) 30 in Cinema Displays. Talk about sick.
Social Utility start-ups
I must say, the whole social start-up ordeal has me confused from a design standpoint. What seems to have me perplexed is the Interfaces of these sites. Most of them, IMHO, look like crap. Case in point would be this site - which honestly looks like no one spent an ounce of time actually designing the functionality. Instead, they just threw up a bunch of code and organized it. Assuming you could...

What does it mean?
I had the most vivid dream that I was the fifth (guest) cohost on The View, and I had to go on in 30 seconds, but I was NAKED with NO MAKEUP.
And Rosie (yes, I realize she’s not still on there, but it was an anachronistic dream, so give me a break) was like “GET ON SET OR ELSE!”
That’s gotta mean something.

My apologies beforehand […] if you find I disappoint you with the simplicity of the process. But at the end of the day, this is the magic formula…
Take note of the process kids, because it’s a good one. (via Brendan) — cubicle17
As Cameron points out, typeface selection can say a lot about “who you are” as a designer.

Adobe Saga -Continued
In case you are wondering, I am the "Visitor". I don't know about you... but it seemed my friend Gene was simply looking for a sale. But yet wasn't willing to reel me in with a little "somethin' somethin'. I don't get this. If there is one thing these companies can learn it's "ABC". Which simply means, Always be closing.
Gene: Welcome to Adobe.com! My name is Gene. May I assist you with your selection today?
Visitor: Hi gene
Visitor: question on the upgrade
Gene: Hi there.
Gene: How would you like me to help you?
Visitor: I have Adobe CS2 (illustrator, Photoshop, etc)
Visitor: is my price $399 to move to CS3 Design standard?
Gene: I'd be glad to help you.
Gene: Since you have Adobe Creative Suite 2, you can upgrade to the Adobe Creative Suite 3 Design Standard for $399.
Gene: You can simply purchase your upgrade and verify that you have the qualifying older product during the installation process.
Gene: If it's installed on your computer, the Adobe installer will either find it or prompt you to help it find the software for verification.
Gene: If it's not installed, you will be prompted to enter the qualifying serial number for the older version.
Gene: Would you like to place the order right now?
Visitor: let me ask you this.....
Visitor: right now i have the following installed on my mac:
Visitor: Photoshop
Visitor: Illustrator
Visitor: Dreamweaver
Visitor: but i don't recall if i purchased these separately
Gene: Okay.
Visitor: or as part of a "Package"
Gene: Can you check the serial numbers of the product and see if they're the same.
Visitor: sure
Gene: If the serial numbers are the same for the products, you can say that the products are a part of a Suite.
Visitor: and if not? do i need to purchase individual upgrades?
Gene: You can do that. You can also use one of the products to upgrade to the Adobe Creative Suite 3 bundles.
Gene: Are you going to place the order for the upgrade right now?
Visitor: i was thnking about it
Visitor: why, you wanna score me a good adobe long-time customer deal??
Gene: If you wish to place the order right now, I'll be glad to stay online till you complete the order.
Gene: You can let me know if you have any questions regarding the order process on the way. Simply minimize the chat window and proceed with the order.
Gene: I'd really appreciate it if you can provide me the order number and the total order value to keep a note of the purchase.
Visitor: Well... i'd be glad to do so, but i first need to figure out what i qualify for under your "upgrade plans"
Visitor: you say it's based on serial number?
Gene: Yes, that's that correct.
Visitor: ok
Visitor: No deals from your end since you have a hot buyer on the hook?
Visitor: is that correct?
Gene: Well, the prices mentioned on the product description page are standard, we do not have any discount.
Visitor: i see. well let me give it some thought and shop around a bit. I appreciate your help Gene.
Gene: You're welcome. If you wish to place the order online you can comeback to chat with us and we'll be glad to help you.
Gene: Thank you for visiting Adobe.com today! We'd like to hear your comments. Please click on the 'Close' button in the upper right corner and take a moment to complete a short survey. You have a great day!
Visitor: ahhh... great. I'll be sure to give Adobe some feedback.

Adobe Illustrator CS2 & Leopard
I have to say i am seething mad with the Ass Clowns over at Adobe.
In the past 2 days i have had illustrator crash no less than 10 times while actively working on a document in Leopard. Not only is this annoying, it is extremely unproductive and a waste of my billable time.
As a reasonable human, I can accept crashes on a minimal basis—but this is out of control. Worst part is, Adobe...
