Twitter Releases Statistics, makes you go, “hmmm”. →
Interesting statistics coming out of Twitter. This came over via email last night. I have included the charts below (i picked them up of of the twitter blog, all copyrights reserved back to the Twitter People.) In any event, here are some things that caught my attention: Twitter-ers with 80+ followers & 70+ following represent 10% […]

Canadiens go with youngster, send Huet to Capitals
]]>]]>]]>]]> The Montreal Canadiens have apparently decided that Carey Price, all of 20 years old, will be the goalie to take them forward, trading Cristobal Huet to the Washington Capitals for a 2009 second-round draft pick. Huet, 32, has been Montreal’s No. 1 goalie this season, so the move comes as a bit of a surprise. The 2007 All-Star is 21-12-6 with a 2.55 goals-against average. He...

Capitals get Fedorov from Blue Jackets, Cooke from...
The Washington Capitals acquired center Sergei Fedorov from the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for draft pick Ted Ruth, a defenseman. Fedorov, 38, is in the final year of a five-year, $40 million contract and will become an unrestricted free agent this summer. He has 469 goals and 663 assists in 17 seasons in the NHL. The speedy Russian had a career-high 56 goals and 120 points for the...

Just did a search with Googles’ awesome “refine by” feature. My search, was for flowers in NYC (taken from lat long blog). Once there, i decided to “refine” my search based on user rating. So, i clicked on the following: 4 Stars and Up - 2 Results 3 Stars and Up - Same 2 results 2 Stars and Up - Hmm, you guessed. Has a rating - Uh huh. All Results - 654 Game,...

What a joke. Gee, now i can refine by user ratings and neighborhoods? Great! But wait, users? Who are these users? Are they like me? Do we have anything in common? Or am i going to get the best ratings for a Days Inn because the “user” is a cheapskate? Again, i say. What a joke.

Zuckerberg Reveals Facebook's Financial Details -... →
Allow me to go on record by saying: If Zuckerberg doesn’t step aside and hire an experienced CEO/President (ala Google), this company will be destined to join the Enron’s. To say you don’t care about EBIDTA when your bleeding that much cash, means you’re not the right one to lead the company. Regardless if they are a private company or not, earnings vs spending should...

Husband guilty of murder in 'letter from grave'... →
jasoncalacanis: here is Julie Jensen’s letter from the grave—very spooky. I must say… i find this story to be extremely disturbing. And this letter “from the grave” only adds to that feeling ten-fold. What kind of sick world do we live in where another being murders the mother of his children simply because they grew apart as a couple? How the fuck does this scenario even make...

claudia: So. I ran home during lunch because I had some stuff to do. I’m now back at the office and I just reached into my purse to grab a pen. Guess what I pulled out? The remote control. For my TV. I hope whoever is at home is having fun trying to turn on the television with my Blackberry. I’d say, look on the bright side. I can think of several other inconvenient household, battery...

Welcome Aboard to my new assistant
After putting the finishing touches on UL it became VERY clear that - if i wanted to hit my launch goals— Daddy is going to need some assistance. So, with in the next 24-48 hours, i will be officially outsourcing my life and business tasks to a wonderful Virtual Assistant, 4000 miles away in India. And i’ll be doing so for the bargain price of $120/mo for 10 hrs of help plus a hourly...

Design Utility
I have to say, until i downloaded this app i didn’t realize how eff’d up my monitors color settings were. That said, this is a just a temporary tool until i can pick up a “real” calibrator. In any event, it’s a good tool for the interim (or those who don’t need/want to purchase a pro calbirator). Check it out

Project Planning
Man, i am such an idiot when it comes to this stuff. I think part of the challenge for me is i want to make sure EVERYTHING is included right from the the starting outline. Something that i am seeing is impossible since it’s inevitable that base tasks will end up leading to new tasks you haven’t thought of yet. Things were so much easier when you had someone else to delegate this...

how true it is. Good to see someone else came forward with another video of Officer Riviera losing his cool. I said all along, the only one disrespecting his badge & “department” is Mr. Riviera. Hopefully, this will cause investigators to seek his retirement.

Pretty vs. Smart
miss-r: gauntlet: Interesting that the ‘pretty vs smart’ debate only seems to apply to women. Do we judge men by more (or different) standards? I can’t believe that men don’t have insecurities about themselves - I guess it is less socially acceptable for them to open about these though. Those gender stereotypes rumble on… That’s why I went back and changed it to ‘person’. Something I find...

A quick lesson on what NOT to do when developing...
Lesson 1 - Don’t Personalize your concept First and formemost, embrace change in your project scope. Understand that Ideas evolve. Concepts change. Shit happens. This is the nature of the beast. Knowing this, wil make your process go a lot smoother. Second, If possible, resist the urge to “name” your concept before you have a clear product. And even then, wait as long as you...

juliaallison: And I liked that he started out with complimenting me on being “smart” … that’s crucial - it means that, even if he does like my appearance, it’s not the only thing that matters to him. But it’s so funny that he thought I was cynical!! maybe I was more cynical back then??] Let this be a lesson to you boys - you ALWAYS tell the beautiful girls they’re Smart, and the Smart...

Television Commercial Optimization →
Earlier tonight while watching a little TV with my son before his bedtime, i had an interesting thought . How is it, given the current state of technology, that we are unable to optimize TV commercials based on the end users channel surfing habits? Or better yet, by the content in which he or she […]

talk show host who hates to talk
Jeff pretty much sums up my view on small talk in this post. I can totally relate to, and sympathize with, his point of view. And while i may not go through his fake phone conversation/ipod extreme’s - I do tend to read/write an email (or pretend to do so) on my blackberry or fiddle with something on my iPhone. A few years ago when heading up my old agency, i was consistantly criticized for...

One of the main reasons i downloaded it was because i wanted something allow me to publish blogs directly from my desktop. From what i can see, this app should fit the bill. Can you smell that, too? Ahhh yes. Why it’s a Hostile Takeover simmering slowly on the stove. It will be interesting to see how Yahoo shareholders react in the coming weeks. It will also be equally as interesting to see if another company (achem Google) either makes a bid, or decides to swallow up all the outstanding shares before MS has a clue what’s happening.

Aside from all of the classifications - web 2.0, 3.0 25.0 - the next phase of the web will be about personal “relevancy”. This will mean delivering and filtering content based on how it applies to our geographic locations, personal interests and our real world social stratification. In my opinion, the current landscape is broken. Search is about who best manipulates links. Social...
